Live-In Personal Care Assistant (Female)

Location: Rapid View, Saskatchewan (Moving to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan >2 years)

I'm seeking a live-in personal care assistant to support me—an easygoing woman in my mid-30s with physical disabilities who uses a power wheelchair. This is a unique and meaningful role for someone who values connection, care, and companionship in their work.

The ideal candidate is:
- Patient, compassionate, and reliable
- LGBTQ2S positive
- A good communicator who can take respectful direction
- Empathetic, friendly, and comfortable forming a close working relationship
- Thoughtful and dependable, with a good sense of humour
- A woman aged 25–45

Key responsibilities include:
- Driving me (in my accessible vehicle) to appointments, errands, and social outings
- Assisting with all personal care needs, including:
- Medication administration (prescription and over-the-counter)
- Wound care (stoma, pressure sores)
- Incontinence care
- Full support with bathing, showering, dressing, and grooming (including intimate areas)
- Assisting with mobility and transfers:
- Using a patient lift
- Occasionally performing manual transfers (lifting approx. 95 lbs)
- Preparing meals and light cooking
- Light housekeeping and laundry
- Managing tube feeding equipment
- Helping care for my dog and cat (feeding, watering, litter box)
- Supporting me with creative projects and hobbies

Other requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

This is a live-in position in my private home. Room and board are provided. While experience is an asset, training will be provided to the right person.

This role is especially well-suited to someone studying in a health-related field, offering valuable hands-on experience. It may be ideal for students attending North West College in Meadow Lake, whether in-person or online, or those planning to continue studies in Saskatoon in the future.
