This wool was purchased many years ago from the Philosopher's Wool Company in Inverhuron, Ontario when it was run by Ann and Eugene Bourgeois (prior to their deaths in 2020). After years of hanging on to the wool, I'm now cleaning out all my collected “stuff” and have decided I'll likely never get around to using it.

The original Philosopher's Wool produced by Ann and Eugene came from local Ontario sheep, sheared once per year to get a longer fibre, and the wool was taken to Texas and the Maritimes for natural processing. It was processed to retain the natural oils found in wool, unlike many commercially processed wools that use chemicals to strip these oils. The process avoids the use of bleaches and acids that can dehydrate the wool and make it scratchy and itchy.
