Driver Services Manager
Oak Bluff, Manitoba
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Driver Services Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this individual is responsible for developing a skilled, motivated, and service-oriented team of open deck drivers. This role involves coaching drivers, fostering good habits, and delivering structured training, ensuring compliance with industry regulations. As a subject matter expert in long-haul open deck transportation, the Driver Services Manager will provide critical guidance and maintain company compliance.
This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and relationship-building skills to cultivate a culture of trust and excellence. In addition to driver development, the Driver Services Manager leads the safety initiatives, promoting health and safety compliance, engagement, and continuous improvement across the organization.
As the Driver Services Manager you will:
Recruit and onboard qualified drivers through marketing, screening, road tests, and performance reviews.
Provide coaching, training (proactive and remedial), and feedback to support driver performance.
Administer progressive discipline and terminations as needed, fostering a strong driver culture.
Ensure fleet compliance with laws, including managing tickets, log audits, ELDs, and HOS regulations.
Monitor driver performance using telematics, video data, and regular abstract checks.
Maintain accurate driver records, reconcile violation history, and ensure industry-leading safety scores.
Manage cargo and insurance claims, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Oversee IRP, registration, annual renewals, driver licensing, and customer certifications.
Promote a proactive safety culture through training, incident investigation, and best practices.
Support compliance with RPM programs, WCB claims, and safety program enhancements.
You and Your Experience:
3-5 years of experience in a Driver Services or similar role.
Strong working knowledge of provincial, Canadian, and US DOT regulations.
Practical expertise in Class 1 driver operations and best practices (PDIC concepts).
Basic understanding of insurance, liability, and claims administration.
Proven experience creating and delivering training programs.
Proficiency with basic technology and data systems.
High-quality work standards: detail-oriented, accurate, and through.
Excellent organizational skills: systematic, proactive, dependable, and calm.
Exceptional listener with clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
Class 1 license is an asset but not required.
