Overview:
We are seeking reliable and hardworking individuals to join our team. As a Hazardous Materials Technician, you will be responsible for completing abatement projects for asbestos, mold, lead, and other hazardous materials.
Responsibilities:
-Set up and dismantle containment areas, including poly sheeting, negative air machines, decontamination units, and other safety barriers.
-Properly seal work areas using tape, hard hoarding, and other materials to prevent contamination spread.
-Assist in erecting scaffolding, temporary enclosures, and other support structures as required.
-Operate HEPA vacuums and negative air machines to maintain controlled environments.
-Follow all company and regulatory safety procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE.
-Perform daily checks on containment integrity and adjust as needed.
-Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, materials, and work areas.
-Assist with site preparation, cleanup, and disposal of hazardous materials according to guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
-Experience in asbestos, mold, or hazardous material abatement preferred, but not required (training will be provided).
-Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces.
-Knowledge of OH&S regulations and safety procedures related to hazardous materials is an asset.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
-Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if required.
-Valid driver's license required.
-Must be able to pass a fit test for respiratory protection.
