505 Class Sailboat PROJECT

The John Westell-designed 505 sailboat is known as an extremely fast monohull racer.
This particular 505 is in a class all of its own.
The bad news: she requires a total rebuild and refit of all the wood components. These parts
include the foredeck, the deck bracing, two bulkheads, the centreboard trunk and supports and
the transom. The fiberglass gel coat portions of the hull has considerable crazing on the surface.
The hull bottom seems sound and straight and without patches.
The good news: ALL parts of/for the boat are present.
Rigging: the mast, boom, shrouds, trapeze, all cleats and eyes and blocks etc. all in good shape.
Sails: all sails are in fair to good shape (unused for 20 years), sails include a mainsail (numbers
matching), 2 jibs (a Genoa and a smaller jib) as well as a spinnaker.
Hardware: unusually all parts appear to be presentt with the boat, mast-step, cleats, etc
Foils: the centreboard, rudder and tiller (and tiller extension) are included (numbers matching)
Though a few of the lines seem to be in good shape, one should expect to replace most or all
lines, halyards, sheets etc.
Trailer: she rides comfortably on a home-made trailer (good shocks and springs, tows straight)
