Dynamic SSAT and Ontario Curriculum Tutor

Description

It's the summer break, a perfect time to balance free time with deepening your child's literary English or SSAT test taking skills ahead of the September 2025 school year.

As a dynamic English teacher with over 15 years' experience successfully assisting grades 3-12 students, I am committed to using creative methods to teach English grammar, vocabulary, sentence variety, and paragraph structure as well as broadening a student's critical thinking/literary analysis for classes in the Ontario curriculum, as well as for private school entrance tests, such as SSAT and IB exams.

Classes are one-on-one with clear, coherent lessons plans held online in a conducive learning environment to accommodate a student's individual goals at reasonable rates.

What people are saying about the class:
“Working with Jacqueline a year before entering grade 9 proved very beneficial to me for the rest of my high school years. We had initially started working and practicing for the SSAT test for the pre-IB program at my school, but my SSAT test-taking skills weren't the only things that needed work, as my essay writing was extremely poor. However, by the end of that year, not only had I passed the SSAT test and made it into the pre-IB program, but my writing had also drastically improved, all because of Jacqueline's help. From there, I began getting 90 in my English IB classes, whereas previously I would be stuck in the mid-80s.
In all, Jacqueline has been an amazing teacher, as she has assisted me to tweak my thinking in regards to writing, bringing my literary knowledge to an even higher level. I would definitely recommend her to those looking to improve their essay writing and improve their test-taking in the English component of standardized tests.”
J. Abdelmalek, Student

“It is my pleasure to write this testimony. Jacqueline was an excellent teacher for my children. She helped them to prepare for Middle/Upper level SSAT, the application process and beyond. My children got accepted to the schools they applied to and they are thriving at their new schools. Thanks to Jacqueline's support and help. She is very organized, well-prepared and approachable. She provided a wide range of study materials tailored to her student's needs. I highly recommend her for students of all ages!”
Y. Choi, Mother of Two

“During our first interaction, Jacqueline asked me about the reason that I thought my son needed a tutor and what exactly he needed help with, so she could focus on his challenges. This showed me that her teaching method is not standardized, but she tailors it based on a child's needs.
Michael, my son, used to struggle to write a 5-sentence paragraph when he first started with Jacqueline as a grade 4 student. After only six months, he was able to write stories that were three pages long! The progress that I ‘ve seen in such a short period is incredible. This improvement not only helped him with his academic achievements, but it also increased his confidence level. Currently, Michael is exceling in his grade 8 English class and is a writer for his school newspaper.
Jacqueline is very hardworking, professional, punctual and has very innovative teaching methods. The dedication that she has is inspiring. I'll forever be grateful for what she did for my son and now my other younger son.”
D. Boles, Pathologist

“Jacqueline's contribution has been instrumental in my son's English language development. Her teaching methods have had a significant impact on his academic progress and overall confidence. Her supportive and inclusive learning approach creates a comfortable space for him to express himself and develop critical thinking skills. My son has benefitted greatly from her mentorship, as she provides guidance and support beyond the class as well. She is consistently punctual ensuring maximum instructional time. Additionally, she communicates regularly with us, keeping us informed of our child's progress, areas of improvement and strategies for continued growth.”
M. Verma, Financial Advisor

“In my classes with Jacqueline, I became familiar with the format of the SSAT and learned various strategies to succeed on the written, verbal and reading sections of SSAT. She was so helpful in providing valuable techniques to ensure I did not repeat the same errors. She also offered genuinely constructive criticism for the writing portion and encouraged me to strengthen my writing through sentence variation, grammar and literary devices. Furthermore, she taught me how to develop a strong argument in a limited amount of time-a technique that I still use during debate tournaments and in class essays.”

In short, she helped me identify the specific areas I needed to review, such as old-English reading comprehension, advanced vocabulary, and gave useful external resources to facilitate my learning. With her guidance, I received a fantastic final grade on the SSAT. Her lessons were fun, engaging, and thorough. I am lucky to have had her as a teacher.”
