Job Title: Load Inspector

About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Load Inspector to join our scrap yard team in Smiths Falls. This role focuses on the inspection and handling of incoming materials, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards. You'll play a key part in keeping operations running smoothly and safely while supporting our environmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control
• Inspect incoming loads of scrap metal, vehicles, and other recyclable materials
• Identify contaminants and ensure proper sorting by material type and quality
• Ensure all materials comply with environmental and safety standards
Material Handling
• Assist with the safe unloading and organization of materials in the yard
• Keep the yard clean, safe, and well-organized
Inventory Support
• Record basic details like material types and estimated quantities
• Communicate inspection results to scale operators and supervisors
Equipment Operation (as needed)
• Operate or assist in operating yard equipment such as forklifts or skid steer
Customer Interaction
• Greet customers delivering materials and explain the inspection process
• Answer questions and provide guidance on acceptable materials
Qualifications
• Experience in metal recycling, construction, or industrial environments preferred
• Familiarity with scrap metal types is an asset (training provided)
• Strong attention to detail and safety
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the shift
• Willingness to learn and operate heavy machinery safely
