A Rare Gem from the Golden Age of Boomboxes (1982-1984)
This stunning piece is in absolutely pristine condition, untouched and unaltered. The original magnetic tape head has been barely used, offering a truly authentic experience. The smooth "soft touch" buttons bring back the golden era of home electronics, when design and craftsmanship were the top priorities—marked proudly with "Made in Japan." Weighing 12.5 kilograms, it's a testament to its superior build quality.
Featuring a stereo FM tuner with exceptional sensitivity and reception quality, along with additional AM and SW bands, this boombox stands out. The Bridge Tied Load amplifier, equipped with a graphic equalizer, delivers 12 watts per channel with minimal distortion and can unleash up to 100 watts of music power.
A true engineering marvel, the Hitachi J3 can be easily converted. The carrying handle and side panels can be removed, transforming this powerful portable audio system into a fully functional shelf-mounted home stereo system.
The Hitachi J3 is also equipped with a turntable PHONO input for magnetic cartridges, a feature that's not common in most systems, making it truly unique. AUX In and Out also can be found on the rear panel. It comes with a versatile power supply, capable of connecting to either 110-120V or 220-240V outlet. Like all boomboxes, it includes a battery compartment that fits 8 D-size batteries. Additionally, an external power socket allows for a 12V battery or connection to a car's onboard system.
This system has undergone a full-service overhaul. All panels were disassembled and cleaned with a special solution to remove dirt and dust. The tape transport mechanism was completely rebuilt and adjusted, with old lubricants replaced by fresh synthetic grease. All belts have been replaced with new ones. All EQ, rec and volume controls were also cleaned to remove any scratchy noise. All Input and mode switches were cleaned too. The receiver and tape-recording unit have been tested/tuned with specialized equipment to ensure it meets the manufacturer's specifications. There are almost invisible scratches on the speaker body.
