I decided to purchase a new unit instead of paying to identify and repair the leak in the house. Since I was quoted about half the price of a new unit to identify the issue and fix the line.

When the replacement was installed, the technicians said it appears that it was in fact initially installed incorrectly (there was a leak in the line), which is why the AC didn't function. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the unit itself. They also said that the coil looks brand new.
