Now ready to find his forever home through outsourced adoption, please meet Billy!

Billy is an 18-25 year old red footed tortoise of unknown gender, but for this ad we're using he/him. His owner rescued him from poor conditions due to a divorce, but their lifestyle proved incompatible with the proper care he requires. He has a shell 6 inches wide by 10 inches long and is an adult. He has never shown signs of aggression nor bitten anyone, and has a clear medical history. Billy has been fed daily on a mix of romaine lettuce, spring mix, zucchini, squash, as well as various fruits including pineapple, strawberries, blueberries and melon, including a calcium supplement.

Billy will need a suitable enclosure with UVB to properly digest his food, along with all the appropriate shallow, heavy and tip proof dishes, and enclosure decor. He will need a very large enclosure, roughly 6 feet by 6 feet or 5 feet by 7 feet minimum, though larger is even better. A converted bedroom would be appropriate. Often, they are kept in a sturdy, escape-proof enclosure outside, but this is only possible certain months of the year with our climate and is not advised without careful research. Outdoor enclosures also must be monitored, and dig proof. As tortoises may sometimes tip over, he must be checked on periodically to ensure he is not stuck upside down! With outdoor enclosures a shady area is necessary to regulate their temperatures. Billy's adoption fee is $75.00.

We do have to note this animal has NOT been through DVRR's facility or quarantine. By applying to adopt you accept any and all responsibility for this animal if he does need to be vet checked.

In order to take Billy home proof of proper enclosure must be provided. Please respond to this ad and we will return the proper adoption forms and information to you. If you are unwilling to fill out our forms, please do not bother to reply.

Billy is located in Evansburg, AB and you must provide your own transportation to pick him up. All documentation must be filled out prior to anything to protect both parties and our animals.
