Third family owners. Currently owned by a gentleman who purchased it from his mechanic about 6 years ago. The mechanic bought it from a client and redid many components as the van sat for quite a while before the mechanic took over the van. It was previously owned by an older gentleman who gave it to his daughter, but she never used it (from what we were told by our mechanic). The van currently belongs to my father. He has been a lifelong VW camper fan (this is his 5th van) and wants for it to go to a good home. He will only sell it to the right person.
Garage stored, original paint with 3 small rust spots (in otherwise fantastic shape). It would be difficult to find another with original paint in this kind of shape.
No rust on the underside. Never winter driven while we have had it and never winter driven before that from what we were told. There are no surprises with the condition of this van. There is one small repair to the paint and a few touch up spots for paint chips and a couple of small dents. But you know exactly what you are getting from the body of this van.
The van runs very well and starts up every time without any complaints. It has the 1.9L motor and it pulls well. The cooling system was redone by the mechanic before my father purchased the van. There are no leaks from the cooling system.
Tent was also replaced when the mechanic had it, so it is almost brand new.
Comes with an awning that was never used by us.
The interior is in great shape, however the cushion covers for the upper bunk do not match the rest of the seat covers but all are in great shape. Carpet was always covered (see plywood in kitchen image).
A couple of issues. Sometimes the speedometer stops working for a few minutes (odometer continues working though). The fan motor for the defrost only works on the lowest setting. The propane tank has been removed, but there is an attachment for a portable tank. My father has never used the electricity or fridge in the van. The tires are getting old.
There is no rush to sell the van, so please don't come with a low ball offer. If you know VW vans, you will know this one is the kind of opportunity that does not come along too often.
