The Butchart Gardens is looking for individuals to fill the following position:

DEPARTMENT: VISITOR SERVICES CUSTODIAL

POSITION: NIGHT CUSTODIAN

The Butchart Gardens is looking for motivated and trustworthy individuals to fill positions on the Night Custodial crew (graveyard shift). The Night Custodial Department is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the general buildings including vacuuming, mopping, sweeping and scrubbing.

The successful candidate will be required to:
• sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and vacuuming of kitchens, restaurants, coffee shop, cafeteria, employee break rooms, office areas, stairs, elevators and other common use areas
• clean non-slip concrete, concrete, linoleum, ceramic tile, hardwood, vinyl and slate floors
• report issues or safety hazards such as damaged or broken equipment to their supervisors
• use industrial vacuum cleaner to remove scraps, dirt, debris and other refuse
• work alone and at night with minimal supervision

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications and demonstrated attributes:
• applicants must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and follow instructions related to business maintenance.
• ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks effectively
• physical ability to perform repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting, reaching and scrubbing
• 1 year custodial or otherwise relevant experience is preferred.

The Butchart Gardens are looking for either one full time (30 – 40 hours a week) or two part time part (18 – 24 hours a week) individuals from May to October and again December 1 to January 6. The position requires both weekday and weekend work with shifts primarily from 9:00pm – 5:30am. Wages starting at $21.49.
