Steam pressed patterned seats and the classic curved backs which are so distinctive to chairs of this style.
The wood has a polished finish which has aged patination.
Original Condition, Unaltered, Some Imperfections. This vintage item remains fully functional in good structural condition, I still sit on them, I weigh 220 lbs.. Shows sign of age through scuffs, dings, faded finishes. Light wear consistent with age and use, Patina consistent with age and use.
Rare set of bentwood chairs, produced in Czechoslowakia likely between 1917-1924. These antique chairs are designed with pressed wood seats in a radiant pattern.
Jacob Josef Kohn were father and son furniture makers in Vienna, Austria. Part of the Viennese Secessionist movement, they were poised as one of Thonet's largest competitors. The Kohn's merged with Mundus in 1917 (forming Kohn-Mundus) before joining Thonet in 1924 to become the world's largest furniture maker.
