The Halifax Women's Housing Co-operative (HWHC) is a cooperative housing community for cis women and trans and non-binary people.
We honor our history as a collective that was founded by lesbians in the 1980s to create a safe and open community where members felt comfortable being out and expressing themselves freely. We operate on feminist principles, with a commitment to providing safe, affordable, and sustainable housing and community for our members.
We prioritize applicants of various genders who are in need of secure and affordable housing. This includes individuals who experience various forms of oppression including gender-based. We encourage applicants to self-identify in their applications.
The available unit is a bright, sunny, spacious, two-bedroom ground floor flat with lots of character located on Fuller Terrace. The flat is accessed by seven steps at the front entrance. The flat has a bay window, hardwood floors, original mouldings, and high ceilings. The flat has plenty of shelving and a new shower/ bathtub. There's a shared backyard and shared laundry down a flight of stairs in the basement. A parking spot is shared with the upstairs unit.
The unit is available August 1st, 2025. Rent is $801/month. Water and basement power costs are a shared expense, as is oil heat. Flat power is paid by the occupants. This is a 2-bedroom unit; applications with two or more people will be prioritized.
