Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician/ Industrial Millwright to join our growing team. The Maintenance Technician / Industrial Millwright is responsible for the operation of all plant centralized utility systems including burn off oven, dry off oven, high pressure compressors, Sleeving – packaging machines, pre treatment pumps, powder air guns systems, wastewater treatment and HVAC systems. The Maintenance Technician must have multi-craft skills and be able to troubleshoot and make repairs to a wide variety of equipment. The Maintenance Technician is expected to complete preventive maintenance on equipment and identify/implement continuous improvement opportunities. Reports to: Maintenance Manager Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for plant reliability in designated area of the plant; equipment downtime, execution of permanent repairs and preventative maintenance, complicated changeovers, and significant improvement of area
• Operates building HVAC equipment, including air guns systems, all heating and ventilating equipment, assuring a properly controlled climate.
• Responsible to maintain the safe and efficient operation of equipment including burn off oven, dry off oven, high pressure compressors, Sleeving – packaging machines, pre treatment system pumps, powder air guns systems, plumbing system, wastewater treatment and HVAC systems.
• Have mechanical, electrical, controls expertise to identify and repair equipment problems.
• Follow safety/LOTO (Lockout tagout) procedures, along with LEAN manufacturing practices.
• Conduct routine audits of operating equipment.
• Maintain an open and professional line of communication with associates in both the production and shared areas.
• Maintenance - routine activities; responsible for: Troubleshoot, adjust, and initiate repairs to equipment.
• Inspect and monitor the condition of equipment.
• Identify and follow-up on improvement opportunities.
• Enter planned work orders into the BLUESTREAK system.
• Complete preventive maintenance and/or planned work orders.
• Provide maintenance assistance during routine shutdowns.
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on the mechanical HVAC production and distribution systems, lighting, life safety systems and electric machinery. Maintains inspection and testing records. Evaluates the condition of electrical systems and recommends repair or replace actions. Documents off normal incidents. Coordinates maintenance with outside contractors.
• Responds to emergency malfunction events, assesses situation, and takes action to stabilize situation to avoid further damage and make safe.
• Traces out proposed utility service shutdowns to identify affected areas and activates service shutdowns and reactivations. Reviews the building systems installation by outside contractors and records deficiencies on punch list. Participates in system start-up, training, and commissioning.
• Utilizes and maintains tools and instruments associated with the HVAC operations and maintenance trade.
• Records time and materials expended on computerized BLUESTREAK system. Following manufactures and regulatory specifications reviews and updates building systems and equipment preventive maintenance records and schedules.
• The position actively follows regulatory agency compliance requirements, supports the Company and goal objectives, the department quality improvement, and operating goals, as well as principles goals, individually and as an effective team member.
• Fabricate parts and assemblies from blueprints or scratch.
• Evaluating hazards and identifying procedures that should be taken to achieve safe work environment and to comply with environmental & health and safety regulations.
• Keep accurate records of all pertinent maintenance documentation.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Support and build capability of site reactive technicians to operate and service HVAC systems off hours.
• Notifies Maintenance Leader / Manager of potential upgrades and modifications.
• Fluent in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) – add and complete work orders through CMMS (iMaintenance) providing adequate detail and follow-up.
• Recommend and implement improvements for recurring reliability issues in Area.
• Attend and participate in all maintenance planning and daily downtime meetings.
• Provides training for operators in optimal changeover procedures, proper PM, and work order completion. Engineering/Projects:
• Be a resource during project installation.
• Assist in the start-up of new project.
• Work with Engineering resources and/or other associates to implement continuous improvement.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Technical degree/trade certification with 5 years or equivalent manufacturing or facilities technician experience required - Millwright 433A trade certification for the province of Ontario.
• A minimum of two (2) years previous experience as a Utilities Technician or Facilities Technician engaged in the operation of all Utilities related equipment.
• Red Seal designation - Millwright License is required.
• Has diverse experience in welding.
• Computer proficient.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Results oriented and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in a manufacturing or comparable institution is preferred
