$300. That's what I paid for a rolled and reroofed 1966 Chevelle 2 door hardtop, rolling not running 283 and a power glide. Three hundred 1979 dollars.
These pictures... taken with a camera that used film, that also had to be developed, they which give proof to what it looked like back in the day when you were young, dumb, didn't know how broke you were and still you were building a car in the driveway,
No internet...you wanted to learn something, get educated, there were 4 ways you did.
1) old guys
2) Magazines
3) libraries
4) your buddies.
Your buddies and word of mouth...I bought this through a buddies word of mouth. Back in the day it's how most sold stuff. Or...
Waiting for Thursday and The BFP (Bargain Finder Press) to come out. Otherwise you might find something in the classifieds of the Edmonton Journal, but since that cost money, you waited for thursday unless you wanted news.
There was no GMAW (MIG), it was oxy acetylene gas welding/brazing and SMAW (stick welding). GTAW ( Heli arc) was for the rich magazine car builders in California. Something to mention, ME Lazerte CHS had an excellent Voc. Ed program, Mr. Austin Robson doing the fine job of educating this young Jedi in welding skills.
This one pictured isn't for sale...yet. Nor is it looking as pretty, But hey, with that said, I still own it 45 years later.
But as is where is, I have another 66 Chevelle body that is for sale.
No... it's not a 396 SuperSport car, get real. But you can make it look like one with the parts I saved, collected, stored over the years.
Really, it's 2025. You build cars now to be different and showcase talent not to see how much you can buy in replacement repo parts. With a passive aggressive sorry, it's my thoughts that the restoration thing is so not that special. I'm more creative custom, body mods, swaps and conversions.
So, if You want to build a BFF ( Budget Friendly Family) street Car Chevelle, give me a call 780-471-3567.
780 471-3567. It's a landline.
I'll help you, make it happen. It's not that hard. And if you do it right, you'll not only say it was money well spent, you'll say yeah, I built it.
Insure it for a good value, drive it all year round. Let the wife drive it, and the kids when they get older. Family car...back seat and seat belts.
