Please help us save Roxy! Help us find a good home for her. Sob
It's absolutely heartbreaking. We love this dog so much. She is sweet and loving and she will be so sad to leave us. We'll be heartbroken when she leaves.
We bought 2 female puppies from the same litter. We did not know you can't do that. They have something called littermate syndrome. Which means they fight. Apparently sometime after the age of 2 littermates will often kill each other especially females. We have had them separated since last August. Everything was going well and we thought maybe one in with the goats every day and one out free on an e-collar switching them.
Then one got out accidentally again the other day and it ended up in a torn ear for Roxy and stitches for Luna her sister. We have tried training etc. however we have come to the difficult realization that both girls would have a better life if they didn't live in the same household. It could sadly happen again with possibly worse consequences.
How can we trust someone to take our baby? There are so many people who are just not good to dogs. Makes me cry to think we might find a poor home for her.
Roxy is only 2 years old and already spayed. She is basically an adorable mutt. Saint Bernard, old English sheep dog, Maremma and Great Pyrenees mix.
She loves her tummy rubbed! She has had a good start in sit, stay, come, wait and not pulling on the leash while walking. I have videos of how her training is going if you would like.
She has been extensively trained on the ‘spot on' e-collar. She respects this e-fence but has not been trained on any other brands.
She is afraid of very young children darting around. She gets along well with my teenage children. So a family with young children probably would not be a good match. She would go best to an active couple who can give her lots of exercise, a family with older children or another acreage.
I think a home without other dogs would be best. Only because she fights with her sister and our cockapoo is a grumpy old man with other dogs so she really doesn't interact with him either. Honestly not sure how she'll do with other dogs.
She does well with goats and cats. She does NOT do well with bunnies. She picks them up in her mouth and the bunnies die of a heart attack. She is relatively gentle with them. They have no blood, no crushed bones.. the 2 she got ahold of simple couldn't take the terror of a big dog trying to carry them around.
When she was a puppy she used to carry one of our kittens around in her mouth. And the kitten was fine with it. So probably our fault for allowing her to do that.
We will be asking questions to try to find the best home for her before something terrible happens here. She is absolutely the sweetest most lovely dog.
