Ruby is the perfect combination of incredibly sweet & willing to please, with a touch of Chestnut mare spice! She's definitely an 'in your pocket', 'people horse' type, and thrives off of affection. She would do well as A one-person mount.
Ruby currently stands at 15hh, is nicely put together, has clean legs and good feet, healthy, no history of lameness, or colic, UTD on worming, vaccines, teeth, feet, doesn't crib and hauls well. Bred and raised at Destiny Farm in Alberta, Ruby had a great start with being handled regularly, halter broke, blanketing, trimming and had plenty of exposure to farm equipment, animals and kids... She typically sits somewhere in the middle of the pecking order, and can be turned out with anything, and is considered an 'easy keeper' feed wise....
Ruby was lightly started as a 3 year old, being ground driven, lunged, introduced to basic Liberty, and has had the majority of miles put on her riding out on trails and in the fields. Shes been both ponied, out on the trails, and ponied off of with kids riding her...She's been ridden in the mountains, sure footed on steep, rocky trails, hops over logs, through streams, and has swam. She was also used in the odd lesson for intermediate level kids to ride...just being asked basic walk/trot commands. She can be ridden English, western or bareback. She's a pleasure to ride out on, ears always forward, doesn't hesitate to take the lead....she rides the same whether she's going out alone or in larger groups, always bold, brave and covers ground nicely..This mare genuinely enjoys working, being ridden, and having a job to do... She's been turned out with mini's and cattle, used to ride out checking fence, and move cattle, Though she's definitely a ways off from being considered a 'seasoned Ranch horse', she's taken extremely well to it all, and has the stamina to go all day long....
Ruby best suits an intermediate to advanced rider in order to get the best out of her...However, she can be ridden by a confident beginner under supervision, and with the odd tune up by someone more experienced. Ruby really doesn't have any vices and has never offered to buck, bolt or rear...The closest thing to a 'vice' so to speak of, is the fact that after a bit of time off, she tends to be a little 'wiggly' when mounting her, which is always easily corrected...She has a good woah, though she naturally has more go to her... This mare is a nice little mover, and I think she could best excel as a Trail/Mountain horse, Endurance, Eventing/cross-Country, all-around Pleasure mount, Ranch horse, or she's even cute and flashy enough for the show ring in Dressage, English/WesternPleasure, or Hunters.... As the majority of miles put on her under saddle, have been outside of the Arena, shes' not what I consider 'fancy-broke' at this time, but she's an extremely fast, eager learner, and to date (as mentioned above...) has a light mouth/only ever ridden in a snaffle or rope halter, good woah, started on neck reining, moves off your leg, backs up, picks up correct leads, can both extend and collect in the walk and jog, has free jumped, done trot poles, cross rails, and smaller grids finishing up around 2'6" (but not yet put full courses together) as well as been in started on the barrel pattern at a jog...There's also options available for the right buyer, to keep her in training gearing her towards a specific direction/discipline, as well as continued boarding and/or lessons on her, at buyers expense....
