Lara Danielle Fitzgerald was adopted at the end of 2008. She was adopted with her younger brother into a Toronto couple's home. The father is a Latvian/Canadian cook and now around 62 years old, and the mother is a Jewish lawyer, also 62. Lara would be almost 19. She was born with a birth defect in B.C.
