Child and Youth worker job description
Location: GTA
Job Type: Part-time contract work
Work Schedule: Afternoon, Evening with a Weekend Availability
Salary: $23.00-$25.00 an hour- independent contract work
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fostering and implementing strengths based relationship care and a belief in the resilience of youth.
Able to work independently with children and youth who have a diagnosis of ASD, DD, ADHD, or other developmental and/or physical disability in their preferred living environments.
Work with challenging behaviour in a families home or community setting
Provide direct, client care and supervision to clients to all clients.
Promote and foster Youth and Family Engagement.
Promote and foster an environment of inclusion, equity and respect for diversity.
Develop and deliver interactive activities and therapeutic programs.
Ensure the safety and security of the clients we are serving.
Complete all needed documentation and reports as required.
Participate in the help in running the day-to-day operation of the facility.
Shift work is required - day, evening and night shifts, weekend availability

QUALIFICATIONS:
College Diploma in Child and Youth Work.
At least one year of relevant work experience, working in the field
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with at risk children, adolescents and adults.
Understanding of the great importance of engaging youth and families from a strengths-based relationship-based approach.
Police check with vulnerable sector check
Ability to be professional and have sound judgement in conflictual and stressful situations.
Sensitivity to and ability to work with a diverse client and staff group.
Great communication, organization, administration and computer skills.
Valid “Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour” certification and OR CPI training.
Valid “First Aid/CPR” certification.
