IBDP BIOLOGY  Summer Prep Course

This 8-week online course is designed for students entering IB Biology (DP1) in the fall. Gain a strong foundation in core topics, develop essential scientific skills, and get familiar with IB assessment styles—guided by an experienced IB Examiner.

• Dates: Saturdays from June 8 – July 27, 2025
• Time will be dependent on the student's enrolled. Multiple times available.
• Class Size: Maximum 8 students
• Instructor: Amanda D'Souza – IB Biology Examiner | OCT-certified | 20 years international experience
• Cost: $400 USD per student
($25/hour—75% less than private tutoring)

Intro to IB Biology & Scientific Skills
IB command terms, assessment types, scientific method, and data analysis

Week 2 – June 15:
Cell Biology
Cell theory, organelles, membranes, and cell structure comparisons

Week 3 – June 22:
Biochemistry Basics
Properties of water, carbohydrates, and lipids in biological systems

Week 4 – June 29:
Enzymes & Proteins
Protein structure, enzyme activity, lab planning and evaluation

Week 5 – July 6:
DNA Structure & Replication
DNA vs RNA, replication steps, base pairing rules

Week 6 – July 13:
Protein Synthesis
Transcription, translation, and gene-to-protein processes

Week 7 – July 20:
Respiration & Photosynthesis Overview
Cell respiration stages, photosynthesis reactions, organelle adaptations

Week 8 – July 27:
Review & IA Skills
Mini quiz, IA critique, how to design an investigation question
