Hello! I'm Jordan. I am a scientist offering freelance math and science tutoring. I have prior experience as a tutor of students from Grade 6 to First Year University classes. I have helped students with wide ranges of capability, from children with minor learning disabilities to highly motivated adults wanting to increase their performance.
I hold a BSc in Biochemistry (2013), a MSc in Agricultural Biotechnology (2016) and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (2025). I've published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and in addition to having a history as a tutor, I have also supervised undergraduate students in research based projects. I know what it is like to struggle with classes and coursework, so I'm happy to help people overcome some of those difficulties.
I am willing to tutor for the following subjects, and can negotiate for other classes pending additional preparation time. I may ask for more specific details for help with University level courses:
Math - Grade 6-11
Science - Grade 6-10
Biology - BIO 20, BIO 30, BIO 1020 and BIO 1010 (or equivalents)
Chemistry - CHEM 20, CHEM 30, CHEM 1000 (or equivalents)
Biochemistry - Biochem 2000
What I can provide:
- Help with homework.
- Subject matter mastery.
- Help with developing an effective study plan and using appropriate tools.
- Assistance in studying for exams or working on challenging assignments.
What I need from you:
- The subject being studied.
- Information on materials being used (textbooks, syllabus and expectations).
- Any potential difficulties (learning disabilities, language barriers, etc).
- A bit of student history to know what needs to be helped or addressed.
- What the student wants to accomplish by having tutoring.

I am offering my time on an hour by hour basis, at $25 per hour, pro-rated for overtime. I accept cash and e-transfer. I prefer to meet in a public venue such as a library room booked by the student. Currently, I can't provide online tutoring. I will not meet with minors (<18 y/o) in the student's home without an adult known to the student present (preferably a parent or guardian). It will be up to the student to book or check if the designated space can be used for tutoring, and open conversation. I have very open availability currently, but generally I'd like to schedule an appointment about a week in advance.
