What Does a Pre-Board Screening Officer Do?

- Screen passengers and their belongings to ensure safety compliance
- Prevent non-permitted items from entering secure areas
- Control access to restricted zones at the airport
- Respond promptly to alarms, reporting events, illegal acts, or violations
- Participate in emergency operations to maintain airport security

Mandatory Qualifications

- Citizenship/Status: Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid Work Permit holder
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Age: 19 years or older
- Language Skills: Fluency in English; conversational proficiency in French is an asset
- Criminal Record: Clean criminal record and eligible to obtain RAIC (Restricted Area Identity Card) security clearance
- Location: Must reside in or near Toronto, ON, or be willing to relocate before starting
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 23 kg, and perform physically demanding tasks

Mandatory Certifications

The following certifications are required and must be obtained prior to starting. GardaWorld provides training immediately upon selection, and all certification costs will be fully reimbursed with your first salary payment:

1. Ontario Security Guard Licence
- Recognized Across Canada: Issued by the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General, valid nationwide
- Training: 40-hour course covering legal authorities, conflict resolution, and emergency response
- Provider: Ontario Security Training (ontariosecuritytraining.com) or Canadian Academy of Guard Training (guardtraining.ca)
- Cost: $200–$300 (reimbursed by GardaWorld)

2. Standard First Aid and CPR/AED (Level C)
- Recognized Across Canada: Certified by Canadian Red Cross or St. John Ambulance
- Training: 16-hour course covering CPR, wound care, and emergency response
- Provider: Canadian Red Cross (redcross.ca), St. John Ambulance (sja.ca), or Lifesaving Society (lifesavingsociety.com)
- Cost: $100–$150 (reimbursed by GardaWorld)

3. CCTV Surveillance Certification
- Recognized Across Canada: Industry-standard training for monitoring CCTV systems
- Training: 8-hour course covering camera operation, privacy laws, and incident reporting
- Provider: Canadian Security Training (canadiansecuritytraining.com) or ASIS International Canada (asiscanada.org)
- Cost: $150–$250 (reimbursed by GardaWorld)
