FUNCTIONAL, ANTIQUE 1890s REVOLVING BARREL STYLE BUTTER CHURN Item Description We offer for your consideration this Antique, circa 1890s, Wortman & Ward MFG Company , London Ontario, Revolving Barrel Butter Churn also called a Creamery or Dairy Swing Churn. Wortman and Ward had the Boss and Acme barrel butter churns and a price list revealed their top piece sold for $19.95. The Creamery Swing Churn was first manufactured by J. F. Hillerich and Son of Louisville, Kentucky. They called it the Dairy Swing Churn and also manufactured it under the Curtice patent of 1891. J. F. Hillerich and Son would become famous as the manufacturer of Louisville Slugger baseball bats. Switching from butter churns to baseball bats turned out to be a great business decision. Bearing the makers marks : The Wortman Ward MFG Co. Limited Daisy London Ont. No. 3 Retail Value Estimate: $475-$500 usd. Condition: rust, scuffs & scratches as to be expected from a 130 year old piece of equipment
