2013 FORD RAPTOR - Registered as a 2023 U-Built Ford Raptor due to the extensive work done during the repair. Last picture depicts how truck was purchased when written off.

Purchased in May of 2019 out of Miami via an online auction site unseen (truck was from Kentucky originally) The purchase price was $14,950.00 USD. The shipping to Calgary Alberta and GST was just over $3800.00 CAD. The truck had 54,000 miles on it.

From original inspection, the door gaps appeared to be consistent from side to side based on photos shown in the auction listing. The listing did state the truck was inoperable which I assumed was damage to the front of the engine from a low impact hit during the accident which ultimately led to the truck being written off. Almost full load with leather, back up camera etc but no sunroof.

The truck was taken to a body shop and they told me the frame was bent and I needed a new frame. I sourced a frame in the US from a truck that was written off during a flood and had it shipped to Calgary to be sandblasted and painted with a zinc based primer and a 2 part epoxy coating as I intended keeping it in Canada. The new frame is shown in a photo here and you can see the extent of the damage which did not appear as bad as the auction pictures, go figure.


The front axle/diff, driveshaft, engine, transmission were damaged one way or another. I ended up finding an engine on E-Bay from a new truck for $8000.00 USD plus shipping and GST out of New York. As per the photos below. Total cost of closer to 10 grand.


The transmission was not the same as a Raptor from the truck the engine came out of so I sold it and bought a new one from Ford on Mcleod Trail. The front diff, driveshafts and a few other smaller parts were also purchased from them, all with Ford warranty. I was also advised to put in a new cam sensor from Ford since the engine was out and they tend to be problematic.
The cab was slightly tweaked and the body shop said there is no way it can be fixed – purchased a new cab and had everything swapped from the damaged cab into the new cab. New windshield & battery as well as driveshafts, carrier bearing & exhausts been completed .


There were a bunch of little things here and there that had to be done like the steering wheel/airbag, a fender, the hood, grille, bumper, one flare and one headlight. I have about $66K into this truck now. But this is essentially a brand new Raptor with 54,000 miles on the rear diff & transfer case. There is a tiny dent in the box and a running board was damaged during the cab swap so there are no running boards on it now. Because the cab was swapped it had to get a new VIN and it is now registered as a 2023 Ford Raptor in Alberta.

Truck runs & drives great - no issues. It's a new 2013 Ford Raptor with warranty on a lot of parts.
