Welcome to our 5-acre organic Ambrosia apple orchard nestled in the heart of Cawston, the Organic Farming Capital of Canada.
This property is on track to be certified organic in June 2024, our orchard epitomizes sustainable agriculture practices and a commitment to quality.
As you step onto our property, you'll immediately notice the flourishing trees enveloped within a protective deer fence, ensuring our precious crop remains untouched. Our orchard is in full production, thanks to meticulous care and attention to detail.
One of our recent endeavors involved an extensive repair and conversion of our irrigation system, transitioning from ground stakes to a hanging type spinner irrigation method. This upgrade ensures efficient water distribution, promoting optimal growth and fruit development.
Our pruning program is equally rigorous, with a focus on enhancing tree health and productivity. Each year we systematically remove oversized limbs to allow for better light penetration and needed airflow. This winter. This winter will be the final pruning of our tree re shaping project, after which we will resume with our regular winter and summer pruning technics.
At the core of our operation lies a dedication to transparency and accountability. We maintain detailed “spray” records, ensuring the safety and integrity of our organic certification.
In terms of yield, our apples speak for themselves. In 2022, we harvested 283 bins, each containing an impressive 825 pounds of pristine Ambrosia apples. While 2023 saw a slight decrease to 195 bins, the quality remained unparalleled. We look forward to a heavy crop harvest this fall of 2024
