Employment Specialist - full-time, fixed term contract (1 year)

Work Hours: 37.5 hour work week (generally Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Our Employment Specialists Focus On: Providing supports to assist individuals to find success in their community involvement, employment and personal development through:
- Inclusive Community Employment (ICE): Assisting individuals with determining their employment vision
and providing supports and strategies to increase employability skills, connect with the labour market
and maintain employment.
- Community Inclusion Program (CIP) Supporting individuals to discover their interests and motivation with
regards to connecting to recreation/leisure/volunteering opportunities.
- Supported Independent Living (SIL): Providing one-on-one assistance to those who are living on their own
and require support in developing further skills to maintain and increase independence. Common areas
of support include: home maintenance, grocery shopping, budgeting, etc.

Daily Activities and Responsibilities will Include:
- Designing and facilitating life skills and employment related workshops;
- Collaboratively creating individualized goals designed to build upon the Client's existing assets and
develop a realistic plan to achieve goals;
- Attending community networking events to build relationships and learn about community resources ;
- Administrative tasks such as daily casenotes and data entry; and
- Travel within Red Deer and the surrounding area to connect with Clients, employers and community
service providers (mileage is reimbursed)
- Desirable Skills and Experience for our Employment Specialist Include:
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS Word and Outlook and familiarity using technology to
deliver online services
- Familiar with the challenges adults with impacting factors may experience including: mental health
concerns and developmental and physical disabilities
- Efficiency in paperwork, data collection and meeting deadlines

Employment Requirements Include:
- 2 Years of Related Post-Secondary Education
- 2 Years of Related Human Service Experience
- Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
- Reliable Vehicle and Drivers Abstract
- First Aid
