The Pilot 240 "Curtain Of Sound" is an integrated stereo amplifier that was a popular choice among budget conscious audiophiles back in the 60's.

Featuring EL84s and high quality output transformers, the 240 has a modest output of 15 watts per channel.
On the rear panel RCA sockets are provided for phono TT, phono RC, FM-AM, multiplex, tape recorder and tape output. There was also a "Simpli-Matic" test panel for output tube balancing, provision for a third centre speaker (hence the "Curtain Of Sound" sobriquet) and an electronic crossover intended for using the stereo channels as a bi-amp mono system.
Other features include an automatic power shut-off for use with automatic record changers, Pilot's "Tru-Lock" ganged tone controls and a loudness switch. As well, the source signal can be sent to the speakers in stereo, reverse stereo and mono A or B. This integrated amp uses 5- 12AX7, 4- EL84 and 1- GZ34. All tubes except the GZ34 are relatively new TubeStore Preferred Series matched sets.

This amplifier is in amazing condition for its age. Cosmetically it is outstanding with only one blemish on the faceplate and a few minor imperfections on the sides of the cover (both shown in photos). This amp was completely refurbished by D'n A electronics in Kitchener in 2016, it performs perfectly and sounds incredible.
I used this amp to drive a pair of Klipsch RF-82 towers and it made them sing. Keep in mind they were 98dB speakers. I love this amp and am only selling it because it just doesn't work with my new speakers and has been sitting on a shelf about 4 years. It should not be on a shelf, it should be playing music. Regardless I will be sad to see it go. I think the price is more than fair as a similar unit recently sold on Reverb for $808 (and this one is just a little bit nicer, lol).

The amp comes with 2 additional matched sets of 4- EL84's (Tung-Sol and the tubes I got with the amp which are unmarked) as well as one additional set of 5- 12AX7's (also unmarked that came with the amp). All the extra tubes are fully functional.

This unit is available to be auditioned in Burford Ontario. I would encourage you to bring your speakers if possible for the demo, unfortunately I do not have a set of speakers that will showcase this amps sonics, they will simply allow me to demonstrate it is functioning and all features are working as they should.

I would consider delivering the amp to you for audition with your speakers (dependant on the location). Additional charges would apply and would be negotiated based on your location.
