Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our inclusive childcare team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in early childhood education and a passion for supporting children with special needs in a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting the well-being, growth, and development of all children through individualized and inclusive programming within a Montessori-inspired setting.
Key Responsibilities:
The educator is responsible for the health, safety, inclusion, and supervision of children in their care, with an emphasis on those with developmental, behavioral, or physical challenges.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized and inclusive learning plans tailored to children with diverse needs
- Creating a supportive and engaging learning environment in accordance with Montessori principles and licensing regulations
- Monitoring and documenting each child's developmental progress and communicating observations to families and supervisors
- Writing and presenting detailed reports and updates as part of the child's interdisciplinary care team
- Collaborating with families, support staff, and external specialists to ensure consistent care and developmental support
- Changing diapers, feeding, and attending to the daily care needs of all children
- Supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through developmentally appropriate programming
- Assisting children with eating, dressing, and toileting, while fostering independence and dignity
- Attending staff meetings and participating in ongoing professional development
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and licensing standards
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certificate in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- Current registration (if applicable by province or region)
- Experience or training in supporting children with special needs is strongly preferred
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Strong command of written and spoken English is required, as the position involves preparing detailed written reports and communicating orally with the child's interdisciplinary care team
