Hello, we are selling our 11 year old Orange-winged Amazon parrot (with a typical lifspan of 60-70 years) due to change in circumstances in our family. His name is Chico and was male dna tested in the earlier years. It has been a hard decision that we were contemplating for a few years, but we feel that it must be done. With two children, it was hard for him to adjust with that change and that made him pluck for a bit as we are not able to give him as much attention as we did before. However, he has been way better since then. It's just hard maintaining him as two full time working parents in addition to caring for two kids and we now have our third on the way in a few months. Chico is very vocal and very playful. He comes with a large cage and some toys, along with another cage for travelling with him. We had him since he was 2 years old and originally bought from PJ Pet store when they were around. He loves being in the same room with people and staying on his cage, observing his environment, watching TV or listening to music. He loves to imitate noises and does some opera singing when he's in a really good mood. He can talk and say things like peekaboo, hi Chico, bye Chico, how are you?, You're so cute , You're so pretty boy , Pretty pretty pretty boy, i love you, what did you do and more. He also whistles, laughs and imitates beeping sounds of a cell phone. He loves to eat carrots and red bell peppers and baked sweet potatoes and being fed from your hand. He loves spreading his wings and soaking up as much water when showering. Chico also loves a good head scratch, especially around his cheek area under his eyes and the back of his head; he can purr at times and you could see the colour around his eyes start to light up. We are only interested in serious offers and those that will cherish him and keep him happy. He is a wonderful Amazon, and this is truly sad for us.
