We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Grower to join our dynamic team.
Job Description:
The Assistant Grower will work closely with the Lead Grower to ensure optimal plant growth and health. This position involves monitoring crops, implementing best practices, and assisting with all aspects of greenhouse or field operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor soil moisture levels and make irrigation decisions
• Irrigate crops manually or automatically with Climate Control computer
• Spray crops manually or automatically with sprayers or booms
• Follow weekly grow schedules for each crop, ensuring timely actions.
• Monitor crop health by scouting for pests (bugs and diseases), counting/placing monitoring cards, and conducting soil tests
• Take care of beneficial insects by feeding and spreading them on crops.
• Manage weeds and Liverwort, manual removal and spraying
Qualifications:
• Degree or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field (preferred).
• Previous experience in greenhouse or field crop production.
• Have a G Class Drivers licence
• Able to work weekends
• Knowledge of pest management, irrigation, and plant nutrition.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform hands-on farm or greenhouse tasks indoor and outdoor year-round.
• Computer literate
