This has been a great laptop to get me through school, but I've upgraded recently. Would be perfect for a student, or as a light workstation. A hobbiest could do wonders with a few inexpensive upgrades too!

Features a Core i7 2.4GHz 4710HQ, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 850M Graphics Card, Blu-Ray read/write drive, 17" IPS FHD display, backlit chicklet-style keyboard, and a 1TB HDD. Fully factory reset, plus deep drive wipe. Originally came with Windows 8.1, upgraded to Windows 10. Plenty of USB ports, HDMI out, SD card reader (not SDHC or SDCC), and analog ports for audio in and out.

Laptop runs great as is, but could use some simple upgrades to bring the performance to a really great level again. Luckily, this laptop comes from the age of metal chassis' and screws, so it's very serviceable. A new SSD, some new thermal paste, and this thing will be off to the races. Battery does still hold a charge, but only for about an hour, so that could be a good fix too.

One small problem with the laptop - the Tilde key (~ / `) has been unceremoniously removed by my cat. I still have the keycap, and the button itself words, but they are not attached. A dab of glue would solve the issue, I just haven't needed to use the key much, so I didn't bother.
