The coil and shaft are waterproof, but the upper display screen and control box are not waterproof. If you submerge the control box/display screen in water, you will destroy it.

It requires 8 AA Batteries. I found the rechargeable batteries don't work with it. You need regular batteries.

It has a speaker that makes noise for you, but does not come with headphones. You can use regular headphones, but I would make sure the headphone cord is long enough to suit your needs metal detecting, especially if you are placing the machine down and digging a target. It helps to have a long headphone cord. If you are using regular standard headphone jack, you will want to get an adapter to take you over to the larger 1/4" size.

I will sell you a working (preowned) metal detector, but all sales are final. If you break it after buying it, it is yours. If you found (or didn't find) what you are looking for and no longer need it, I don't do returns. I am not a free rental place for metal detectors.

With any metal detector you buy, I recommend you spend at least 50 hours or more learning the machine.
