We are seeking a dedicated Farm Laborers for one of our client in West Lorne (N0L 2P0). The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic about working outdoors and contributing to the agricultural industry.

**Shift Details:**
Morning Shift: Monday to Saturday
8:30 AM TO 4:00 PM

**Pay Rate:** $ 17.50 per hour

**Responsibilities:**
Three Job Duties: Picker/Sorter/Packer – ideally, all temp. workers will be cross-trained on each duty and will rotate as required.

1) Picker (main position 85% of the time): Picking organic berries – will manually/handpick/shake rows of blue berries/fruit bushes. Will have a large bucket either carried, or tied to waste with a belt (rope-belts will be provided at the farm). When crop has morning dew and/or rain, duties will also include general cutting, trimming of fruit bushes, grasses, weeding general cleanup/cleaning, removing and disposing of garbage, etc. Green berries (unripe) will be left on plant -- ripe berries/fruit will roll off fingers – workers not to ‘pull' berries off the plant manually as those are the berries which aren't ripe yet – all they have to do is run fingers along fruit and/or shake plant.

2) Sorter: Workers will be responsible for feeding blueberries into and operating berry-sorting and grading machine in packhouse.

3) Packer: Finalizing production process by packing, wrapping, applying shipping labels, etc. on crates/boxes for distribution in the packhouse.

**Requirements:**

- Must have atleast 1 year of experience working outdoors at a farm.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Must have a keen eye for colour and ripeness of the berries.
- Must be open to work with other cultures/ethnicities, locals.
- Comfortable standing, bending, leaning & walking for long period of time.
- Farm has falcon/hawk bird flock which will be attacking birds which eat the crops. Workers must be comfortable working with such birds & not be fearful of the birds of prey swooping down between row of berries.
- Workers must be okay with bees and other bugs outside & must not be allergic to bee stings.
- Competence in using power tools for various farm activities

Performance expectations: To start, a flat (container) of blueberries must be filled in 40-60 minutes, should be up to full-speed of completing a flat in 10-15 minutes after a few days on the job. 10 lbs per 30 minutes is ideal for harvesting.
