What a great conversational piece as well as a functioning desk. Originally build circa 1870 as a pump organ, this non-working melodeon organ has been repurposed into an awesome fully functional desk using all original parts from the original piece except for the keyboard and pumping mechanism. The wood is Rosewood, which is now an endangered species and no longer used to make furniture. It measures 47” wide, 22” deep and 33 12” tall at the back…. The writing portion is 27” high. There are 4 drawers, with 2 hidden compartments and 3 open compartments. The Cabriole style legs are decorative and outstanding. The wood has been restored professionally using a method that preserves the original patina but subdues any scratches and seals the wood in several coats of lacquer.
