This is a vintage (believe 1960's) folk art carving from Caron Studios in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec, Canada. Featuring a woodsman with his tools, it is beautifully by Caron, one of the family of great carvers following in the traditions set down by Paul Caron. Marked. Loving attention to detail: handle on sharpening wheel turns and the tree trunk forms the lamp. Wood is well taken care of: oiled regularly. Vintage woven shade with leather thong detail and acorn finial. Lamp works well.
