The pumps force the water up from the bottom to the top and then down again through a filter pad and 12" of a granulated filter medium(not included). Beneficial bacteria consume impurities. Can be used in or out of the pond. This is a pressurized filter so that you can use the discharge line for waterfalls and watercourses with out having to rely on gravity flow through and out of the system. Inlet/outlet port - 1".
