This is an older print of the Bishops of St. Afaph meeting James II in April 27th, 1688
The frame is a contemporary gold wood frame with a light white wash in the creases of the scroll work surrounding the print. There are some areas on the frame with light wear showing a black underneath. There are only a few places like this on the frame. The frame's size is 15 1/2”W x 17 1/2”H
Overall, the condition is excellent and it would be a terrific addition to your decor.
The Seven Bishops were members of the Church of England and met to present James with a petition. After their petition to James II was printed and publicly distributed, the bishops were charged with seditious libel and held in the Tower of London. They were tried and found not guilty on 30 June. It turned out to be a public relations disaster for the Crown.
Downsizing after 40 years in the house. This item is extra to our needs.
