A little late but better then never, please say hello to Asha!

Asha is a roughly 3 year old female leopard gecko. This tough little cookie came to us fighting for her life alongside her surrender mate Kibou. They were actively trying to die but we said nope! Asha was suffering the worst case of emaciation we had ever seen, coming in at 21g at intake. She has the majority of her toes missing, necrosis creeping inward from the tip of her tail that had to be removed. Multiple layers of retained shed, infections in her eyes and jaw and a rough case of MBD. Asha took awhile longer to recover then Kibou did but is finally ready for her forever home! Asha is a gentle gecko but doesn't do well with excitement, and is skittish to a point. Calm and gentle handling sessions are going to be best. Excitable or young children will not do well handling her.

Asha has been given the clear for release but from our last appointment with our vet, it has been noted she has a firm liver on palpitation. She does have kinks in her tail and a balance issue resulting in abnormal movement. Our vet believes this is a neurological issue that is not an active concern and could be related to her previous mistreatment. It is noted if her neurological issues worsen she should be brought back into them for a diagnostic work up. At this time her issues remain stable and although she couldn't hit the broad side of a barn when hunting, she still is living her best gecko life. It should be noted that her tail will likely never be as plump as a normal leopard gecko due to the damage from her past life.

Disclaimer: We are not looking for a home that is anything other than the best for Asha. Her last home almost killed her with neglect. If you are not willing to go above and beyond for Asha, and want to treat her as any run of the mill gecko, do not apply for her. As you can see from her photo, we are serious when we say the best and nothing less. She has gone through so much, she deserves every ounce of respect and love for the rest of her life.

Asha LOVES her food, She absolutely loves anything moving. She has learnt our routine and when we are preparing to feed the animals near her, she will come to the front of the enclosure and stare. Asha does have difficulty hitting her target but she still likes her food, she does take a bit more to successfully eat and a bit more patience then a normal gecko when presenting her meal. Asha is fed every 2 days on a variety of feeder bugs. She has not been tried on crickets as her aim is so poor but does happily take superworms, meal worms, kingworms, wax worms, and we cannot imagine she wouldn't enjoy any other type of bug! Her bugs are offered with tongs and powdered with supplements one bug every 2 feeding of her meals. She has constant access to supplements in her enclosure. She will need an appropriately sized enclosure (3 ft in length min with significant preference to front opening) with hides, a humid hide, calcium bowl, water bowl and a proper undertank heater with a regulator. If EXTENSIVE research is done and shown in the application, we may allow alternative heat sources however if you REFUSE to use a regulator we REFUSE to adopt to you. We also must note that this is an animal that is sensitive to light and will not thrive under bright lighting. Asha's adoption fee is $40.00.

To take Asha home, proof of proper enclosure is required. Please respond to this ad and we will return the proper adoption forms and information to you. If you are unwilling to fill out our forms, please do not bother to reply.

We are located in Drayton Valley and while we encourage pick up we do offer delivery (once the adoption has been processed and approved) with a fee based on mileage and current gas prices. We require payment in full prior to leaving. All documentation must be filled out prior to anything to protect both parties and our animals.
