Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a taxidermy assistant. As a taxidermy assistant, you will work closely with our experienced taxidermists to help prepare animals for mounting. You will also be responsible for keeping the workspace clean and organized, as well as supplies filled.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the taxidermist with all aspects of the taxidermy process, including skinning, fleshing, and prepping animals
• Prepare specimens for mounting by cleaning hides before and after mounting
• Use specialized tools and equipment to ensure precise and intricate workmanship
• Work efficiently and effectively to meet tight deadlines and high-volume demands
• Collaborate with the taxidermist to ensure quality control and attention to detail in every piece
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and regulations
• Develop knowledge of various animal species, their characteristics, and habitats
• Pouring forms for projects
Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in biological sciences, wildlife management, or related field preferred
Prior experience in taxidermy or a related field (e.g., outfitting, guiding, museum assistant) an asset
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and strong manual dexterity
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform tasks that require repetitive motion
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous work in a taxidermy shop
