Responsibilities
What you'll be doing...
- The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for monitoring the children while present at the Early Childhood Learning Centre as well as planning and implementing a program for the children regarding regulations and the individual needs of the children.
- The incumbent is also responsible for working with the Early Childhood Education program to model and assist with daily routines. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the evaluation of student teachers. Responsibilities for the program include planning, preparing and implementing experiences for children by interpreting the Early Childhood Learning Centre philosophy, goals and objectives to the students.
- It is the incumbent's responsibility to inform parents of their child's progress, to promote parent involvement and to work with other professionals who may be involved in the care and education of the child. As for the record keeping, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining children's attendance, health, medical and assessment records as required. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the safety and sanitation of the day care facility.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent. A minimum ECE Level 2 is required.
- Nova Scotia Level 3 ECE Certification would be considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of 1 year of recent and related occupational experience in a childcare setting.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, Microsoft Team (or any other application for video conferences).
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
