Online SSAT, SAT and ACT Private English Tutor

Description

Online SSAT, SAT, ACT Private English Tutoring

Hiring an English Tutor is a game changer when it comes to excelling at SSAT, SAT or ACT tests!

Over the last 15 years, I have had the pleasure of assisting students in upgrading their SSAT scores so that they can enter into private schools such as UTS, UCC and IB programs. And I have given yet others essential support in their SAT and ACT university entrance tests pursuits.

I am a diligent, empathetic and experienced tutor with a UofT English degree providing quality, virtual classes for students 3-12.

After assessing a student's abilities, we work together to improve, essay and narrative writing, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and critical thinking skills for the various tests. Classes are one-on-one with clear, coherent lesson plans in a supportive environment to accommodate a student's goals.

What people are saying about the classes:

"During my classes with Jacqueline, I became familiar with the format of the SSAT and learned various strategies to succeed on the written, verbal, and reading sections. Whenever I made mistakes in the verbal and reading areas, Jacqueline always helped me understand where I went wrong and provided valuable techniques to ensure I did not repeat these errors. She offered genuine constructive criticism for the writing portion and encouraged me to strengthen my writing through sentence variation, unique grammar structures, and literary devices. Furthermore, through for/against exercises, she taught me how to develop a strong argument in a limited amount of time—a technique that I still use during debate tournaments.

She helped me identify the specific areas I needed to review, such as old-English reading comprehension, advanced vocabulary, and sentence beginnings, and provided useful external resources to facilitate my learning. With her guidance, I received a fantastic final grade on the SSAT, improved my writing, expanded my vocabulary, and I learned to formulate strong arguments. Her lessons were fun, engaging, and thorough.
I am lucky to have had her as a teacher!"

“Working with Jacqueline a year before entering grade 9 proved very beneficial to me for the rest of my high school years. We had initially started working and practicing for the SSAT test for the pre-IB program at my school, but SSAT test-taking skills weren't the only ones that needed work, as my essay writing was extremely poor. However, by end of that year, not only had I passed the SSAT test and made it into the pre-IB program, but my writing had also drastically improved, all because of Jacqueline's help. From there, I began getting 90 in my English IB classes, whereas previously I would be stuck in the mid-80s. Jacqueline and I came into contact again a few years later in grade 12, as I now needed guidance with university supplementary applications. Even though Jacqueline had noticed my improvement in writing, she had still found ways to improve my essays even further and aided me in putting some of my absurd ideas into words.

Furthermore, as most students come to realize, the hardest thing about supplementary applications is staying within the word count and still manage to be creative. Jacqueline had made that easy as she wouldn't only edit my essays and change my wording, but also give me tips and advice to know what would be important to write and what I could exclude while still bringing my work to life. Jacqueline has been an amazing teacher, as she has helped me to tweak my thinking in regards to writing, bringing my literature to an even higher level.

I would definitely recommend her to those looking to improve their essay writing and improve their test-taking in the English component of standardized tests.”

“My son started private tutoring with Jacqueline four months before his actual SSAT exam. He was too nervous and didn't know how to plan or study for his exam. We have tried several tutors before we actually started with Jacqueline. We used to travel a long way from where we live to Toronto. The drive was worth it as she was really an experienced and proficient teacher in prepping students for Upper Level SSAT exams. The combination of one-on-one tutoring was optimal. My son made it into the IB program we wanted.”

“It is my pleasure to write this testimony. Jacqueline was an excellent teacher for my children. She helped them prepared for Middle/Upper level SSAT, the application process and beyond. My children got accepted to the schools they applied to and they are thriving at their new schools, thanks to Jacqueline's support and help.

Jacqueline is very organized, well-prepared and very approachable. She provides a wide range of study materials tailored to her students' needs. I highly recommend her for students of all ages!”
