I am pretty sure this is a 1940's WWII Canvas Sun Tent Bag or Duffle Bag of some sort. It has the slits around the opening likely to string a rope through and draw string close the open top.
It also has several button closures down the side of the bag.

It also has buttons down the one side. And a Intentionally Stitched Gap Slit in the side. Possibly where metal legs would protrude? Or something was supposed to be able to stick out of the bag sack?

If anyone knows for sure what I have here, let me know.

It is 30" long and in quite decent shape. No rot, fraying or holes.

You can grab this any weekday or weekend during the day or night in Waterloo 6 minutes off the Hwy.#85 North Expressway and the University Ave East exit.
