Hourly wage: $21.50
Four (4) days a week, Monday to Thursday, six and half hours (6.5) daily.
Valid Food Safe Certificate required.
Must pass a criminal record check.
The Childcare Center Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the children (ages 0 months to 5 years) enrolled in the center. The kitchen is to be managed, and the cook's work is to be conducted in strict compliance with the Health Department, Day Nurseries Act, and all other applicable legislation.
• Planned menus, modified recipes, and prepared foods.
• Using the nutrition guide for proper serving sizes.
• Maintains sanitation standards throughout the kitchens to comply with Provincial regulations.
• Ensure the practices, methods, and procedures for food preparation, food values, characteristics, nutrition, personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation, and safety precautions.
• Ensures food quality in presentation and production.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Clean and maintain utensils necessary to prepare meals.
• Clean and maintain the area where meals are served, including cleaning the oven, stove, fridge, counter space, and floors.
• Take direction and work with staff and leadership.
• Maintain confidentiality as the norm in all issues related to students, parents, and school.
• Assists with other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
