The Ocean View Hotel is a 61 room boutique hotel located on the Rocky Harbour waterfront at the center of Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland and Labrador. The hotel has 2 large restaurants, the Oceans Room (130 seats, casual/upscale) and the Anchor Pub (150 seats, casual/live performance venue). The hotel hosts a mix of individual travellers, motor coach guests and other groups each evening. The 2nd level Oceans Room features beautiful views and sunsets and offers a casual upscale setting. The Anchor Pub features all-day dining, craft beers, and sold-out live traditional entertainment performances seven nights per week.

We are looking for a seasoned professional Line Cook to join our team for the season. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our hotel's customer satisfaction and food experience program goals. We are looking for a cook with skills matched to delivering excellence in food service for 2 large hotel restaurants. We need a team leader who can help elevate the food program while working support on the lines and managing quality control.

Live, work and play in beautiful Gros Morne National Park for 4 months in the region's busiest foodservice operation.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
• Prepare food for service
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
• Answer, report and follow executive chef's instructions
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
• Contribute to menu development and food program changes

Requirements:

• Ability to start ASAP with a target for early June
• 10 years of proven cooking experience as a Chef/Line Cook for a mid-large size restaurant would be an asset
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Familiar with industry's best practices
• Culinary school diploma
