Baking / Kitchen Helper needed (Cash Job)

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented kitchen assistant to join our bakery team. You will support the head baker in preparing a variety of baked goods, ensuring the highest
quality and consistency. This role involves both baking and general kitchen tasks to maintain a clean, efficient, and productive work environment.

We are seeking not just a Baker/kitchen helper, but also an operations manager who can think proactively and effectively. As time progresses, this role will evolve to include training staff and overseeing workflow as part of official responsibilities.

25 - 40 hours/week

Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation:
• Wash, peel, and chop vegetables
• Measure and mix ingredients as directed by the chef or cook.
• Assist in basic cooking tasks, such as grilling, frying, and baking under
supervision.
• Measure and prepare ingredients according to recipes.
• Mixing, kneading, rolling and shaping dough.
• Prepare baking sheets, pans, and trays for baking.
• Follow recipes and instructions accurately to ensure consistency and quality.

2. Baking and Cooking:
• Operate baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofers.
• Monitor baking times and temperatures to produce the desired results.
• Decorate and finish baked goods, including cakes, pastries, and breads.

3. Cleaning and Maintenance
• Clean and sanitize baking equipment, utensils, and workstations.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are in proper working order.
• Maintain a clean and organized baking area, adhering to food safety and hygiene
standards.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, counters, and
equipment.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment promptly.
• Ensure all food storage areas are clean and organized.
• Follow sanitation policies and procedures to ensure a hygienic environment.

4. Inventory and Stock Management:
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies and equipment.
• Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the head baker.
• Label and store food items correctly to prevent spoilage.
• Assist in receiving and storing baking supplies and ingredients.
• Rotate stock to ensure freshness and minimize waste.

5. Quality Control:
• Inspect finished products for quality and consistency.
• Follow health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of food hygiene.

6. Transportation Duties: A MUST
• Transport food, supplies, and equipment between different location
• Ensure timely and safe delivery of items.
• Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the vehicle.
• Keep accurate records of deliveries and report any issues promptly.

7. Customer Service:
• Assist in Packaging Doordash and Uberats orders efficiently and accurately
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints courteously and efficiently.

8. Team Support:
• Work collaboratively with the baking team to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist in training new staff members as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head baker or bakery manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the chef or kitchen manager.

9. Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a bakery or kitchen environment i
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques and kitchen equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Cleanliness is a must
• Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
• Clean driving record and insurance coverage.

10. Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 pounds).
• Manual dexterity and stamina to handle kitchen tasks efficiently.

11. Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
• Culinary or bakery experience is a plus.
