Asima KA affectionally known as Bella is a 15-year-old bay registered Arabian mare.
Bella is a lovely, personable mare. She has a gentleness to her and likes people. She's started under saddle and willingly goes walk, trot, and canter in both directions, and has started venturing out on the trails. In the arena, Bella is typically more whoa than go and fairly steady. Out on the trails she is proving to be steady, forward and brave. She has little to no spook and handles deer, birds, geese, vehicles, and anything else we've encountered out and about with very little concern. She will stop and look at things she's unsure of, but this is usually a calm, relaxed stop and not a sudden stop. She moves well off the leg and is quite soft.
Bella has mostly been ridden with one or two others horses on the trail and will gladly lead the whole way or follow behind. She has been ridden out alone once and handled it quite well. She had some anxiety upon first mounting and needed to move her feet, but left the yard willingly and bravely with no concerns that she was leaving her buddies behind. A little hot-to-trot at first, but responsive to rein and seat and requests to walk. She did need reminders to stay at the walk for the first 1/2 mile, but settled in really well for a solid solo ride. I have no qualms about riding her out alone based on this experience.
Don't let this mare's age and experience level deter you, she's going to make someone a fantastic trail partner, whether it's for pleasure or distance competition. This mare has great potential as a trail horse, but could also be introduced to dressage or jumping and probably do well in that as well.
Bella has beautiful movement and a ground-covering floaty trot. On the trails she's nice and consistent. Ask for a speed and she's pretty much on cruise control. Nice hardy feet with no sensitivity on gravel. She's been kept barefoot and never needed shoes. She's been ridden on roads, ditches, trails, and pushed bush.
Bella loads well for trailering.
No buck, bolt or rear.
Bella does struggle with standing patiently while tied and standing still for saddling, but this is improving with time and consistency. She has good ground manners, is respectful of people, gives to pressure, and good for the farrier.
Bella had 2 months of training under saddle in Dec 2022 & Jan 2023 and came along quickly in that time. She has mostly been sitting since then due to no fault of her own, but when we pull her in off pasture she's pretty much the same horse I had the last time. She doesn't forget anything with time off.
Stands 15.2 hh; this mare has height and substance.
Due to Bella's experience level, she would do best with an experienced, confident rider to take her to the next level.
Vaccinations and teeth were done in 2022 and she's had regular deworming.
