I am a 63-year-old male quadriplegic with a spinal cord injury at level C5 – C6. I use a power wheelchair on a permanent basis. I live in the Clayton Park area of Halifax, NS; and I am looking for a part-time Personal Care Worker (PCW).
Requirements:
NOTE:
Applicant should have experience DOING PERSONAL CARE WITH A SPINAL CORD INJURED INDIVIDUALS, ALONG WITH SKIN CARE, OPERATION OF A PATIENT LIFT (These are essential requirements)
Applicants must be fluent in speaking and understanding the English language to comprehend how personal care is to be done and other care procedures.
I will require help with bathing, grooming, dressing, and bladder and bowel management. Some mobility requirements may include help with transfers, pressure relief movements, using a shower chair and electric patient lift for showers and in and out of bed transfers.
Transportation:
I live on a Metro Transit bus route
Position Details:
This position would be approximately 20 – 25 hours per week, mornings, starting at 8:00 am and evenings, starting at 8:30 / 9:00 pm. Approximately 2-3 hours for morning and 2-4 hours for evening visits.
