We are seeking a skilled and experienced Butcher and Meat Cutter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in butchery and meat cutting, with a strong knowledge of different cuts of meat and proficiency in utilizing various cutting tools and equipment. The Butcher and Meat Cutter will be responsible for preparing meats for sale, including trimming, cutting, packaging, and displaying meat products according to quality and safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to sanitation and safety regulations, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Perform butchering and meat cutting tasks, including portioning, slicing, and trimming meat products.
Inspect and grade meat products for quality, freshness, and proper packaging.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the butchery area, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when handling and operating cutting tools and equipment.
Receive, inspect, and store incoming meat products in refrigerated storage areas.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure adequate inventory levels and product availability.
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with meat selection, answering questions, and fulfilling special requests.
Monitor and rotate meat products to ensure freshness and prevent waste.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling and storage of meat products.
Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and replenishment.
Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance butchery skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Butcher or Meat Cutter in a retail or commercial setting.
Strong knowledge of different cuts of meat and proficiency in meat cutting techniques.
Experience with meat cutting equipment, including Meat Saws like Nella or Biro, and proficiency in their operation and maintenance.
Proficiency in handling and using a variety of knives for meat cutting and trimming.
Ability to use and maintain various cutting tools and equipment, including knives, saws, and grinders.
Excellent attention to detail and precision in portioning and trimming meat products.
Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with team members.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy meat products.
