They're one of Nature's best sources of vitamin C and contain carotenoids, vitamin E, amino acids and dietary minerals. They're used to make pies, jams and lotions. Sea Buckthorns are nitrogen-fixers and are an excellent multi-purpose plant for the edible landscape. It's too bad sailors in the past didn't know about sea buckthorn, because one berry contains roughly 12 times the Vitamin C of an orange!

In addition to Vitamin C, the berries also contain a unique Omega-7 fatty acid, which is reputed to have the ability to protect the inner stomach lining and treat stomach ulcers.
